Wearing our UV shield offer the same amount of UVA and UVB protection as an SPF 50+ sunscreen. There may be areas however that are not covered by the UV shield like ears and neck , so we at Umbrashiled recommend wearing sunscreen along with our UV shields. For extra coverage in order to get sun protection we suggest using our range of UPF 50+ scarfs and jackets.
Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) indicates how much UV radiation ( both UVA and UVB ) a material allows to reach your skin. For example, UPF 50+ fabric like the one in our jacket and scarf block 98% of the sun’s rays and allows 2% ( 1/50th ) to penetrate , thus reducing your sun exposure risk.
Yes , all UV shields provide minimum sun protection of 99% from UVA / UVB / UVC rays. However, different tints on the lens might increase UV protection by 0.3 % to 0.6% making it 99.3% to 99.6% UV protectant.
All our shields are made with ther same process and use same UV filters.
The reflective finish on the shields will easily show fingerprints , oil or any kind of dust. In order to keep the shield clean and dust free , we suggest wiping from a muslin cloth or any kind of lens cleaning soft cloth that you have at home. We also recommend testing a small patch by cleaning first in order to ensure seamless cleaning.
To make our UV shields more user friendly we have made our adjustable straps at the back of the headband. A little hack to adjust the size of the headband can also be by applying little heat through a hair dryer which will warm up the insert inside the sleeve and allow you to make it larger or smaller.
