It began with a small personal battle.
Our founder, Arifa Shah, was tired of having to choose between wearing heavy layers and getting inadequate sun protection.
She envisioned something new: sun protection that is as comfortable and stylish as it is effective, and that fits into your daily routine instead of adding more stress.
That vision became Umbrashield.

Our name holds two ideas in one word. Umbra is the Latin word for shadow. Shield is what stands between you and harm. Together they make Umbrashield: your own portable shade.
Look at our logo. The U and the S sit side by side and read US. That's deliberate. Umbrashield isn't made for one kind of person. It's made for all of us.
