A UV visor and a UV face shield are typically the same object described two ways — a curved transparent lens on an adjustable headband. Search for a UV visor, and you will see SPF 50 visor, UPF visor, UPF 50+ visor, and visor SPF, all describing similar products. It is genuinely confusing, and the reason is that neither rating was designed for a visor.

 SPF assumes a specific thickness of product applied to skin. UPF assumes a weave with gaps between threads. A polycarbonate lens is neither — it is a solid sheet, so what you want from it is simply how much ultraviolet it stops.

None of this means an SPF 50 visor is a bad product. It means the seller borrowed a familiar number from a different category, and you should look past it for an actual blocking figure.

Why Reflected Sun Is a Visor's Real Advantage

Here is the part almost nobody explains, and it is the strongest argument for a visor over anything with a brim.

Ultraviolet does not only arrive from above. It bounces.
